It is they who have made possible the development of LED lighting.

For if the red and green LEDs have existed for over 50 years , the color blue , which is essential for obtaining white light (the one that comes out of our current LED) has been obtained  by the end of the 90s!

This technological revolution has also led to the discovery of numerous other applications such as  BLUERAY now widely used in multimedia.

The Nobel committee wanted to reward this invention that will in future decades help our decrease in energy consumption
